Wait until 2015.

That is the message the Navajo Election Administration said this week in regards to the election for Navajo Nation president.

The turmoil that has continued to surround the elections for the largest federally recognized tribe in the country is just too much to clear up by the original postponed date of December 23, Edison Wanueka, director of the NEA told Bill Donovan for the Navajo Times.

The decision to postpone the election until next year came Tuesday, which was deadline day for ballots to be printed, the day came and went without any printed ballots due to uncertainty about Russell Begaye being added to them.

Begaye was one of the original 17 candidates in the August primary election, finishing third to Joe Shirley Jr. and Chris Deschene. Following the fallout surrounding Deschene’s lack of fluency Begaye was entered back in the race.
